Translate Offline Translator turns your iPhone camera into a translation tool. Point it at a sign, a menu, a page in a book, and the text appears translated on screen in real time. It also translates any photo from your library. OCR and translation run on your phone, and once the model for a language pair is downloaded, no internet connection is needed.
Camera OCR
Aim the camera at the text you want translated. Recognition happens on screen as the viewfinder moves. Useful for travel: street signs, transit boards, store hours, museum placards, food packaging. The camera view is the only UI you need.
Translate from photos in your library
Open any photo from your library, pick the text, and get a translation in seconds. Useful for screenshots, scanned pages, screenshots of chat messages, and pictures you took earlier.
50+ languages
Translate between more than 50 languages, from common pairs like English and Chinese to rarer combinations. The first time you translate between a given pair, the on-device model is downloaded from Google and cached locally. From that pair onward, no network call is made for that language pair.
On-device AI
OCR runs on Apple's Vision framework. Translation runs on Google's ML Kit. Both libraries are loaded on your iPhone; neither sends your image to a remote server.
Works offline after the first download
Every feature works without network after the first model download. This makes the app reliable on planes, on trains, on road trips, and in any country where roaming is expensive or unavailable.
Translation history
Past translations are listed locally for review. Each entry can be copied to the clipboard or reopened later. The history never leaves your phone.
Ad-free option
Translate Offline Translator is free to use. Free users see ads between translations. A subscription removes all ads, and a one-time upgrade is also available for users who prefer to pay once.
