This Privacy Policy explains how Money Tracker (the "App") handles information about you. In short: your financial records stay on your device — we don't sell them, don't collect them, and can't see them.
We built the App around a "local-first" design so that your balances, transactions and receipts are yours alone.
1. We Collect No Personal Data
The App requires no account registration and asks for no name, email, or phone number. All your data — accounts, categories, transactions, statistics — is stored in a local database inside the app's private storage on your device and is never uploaded to our servers or any third party's.
We don't sell your data; we have no data to sell.
2. Data Stored Locally
The following data exists only on your device:
- Accounts (type, name, balance snapshot) and their transactions
- Income and expense categories, including custom ones you create
- Transaction notes, dates and amounts
- Statistics derived from the above
- App settings (currency, first day of week, theme, reminder preferences)
Because this data exists only on your device, we cannot access, view, or recover it. You can view, edit, or delete any record in the app at any time, or wipe everything whenever you like.
3. Receipt and Card OCR Runs on Your Device
The receipt scanner and the bank-card / account-number scanner recognise text inside the App on your phone. The photo you capture is processed locally and is never uploaded to a server. Only the fields you choose to keep — total, date, merchant, account number — are written into your local database, and every pre-filled value stays editable before you save.
4. PIN and Biometric App Lock
If you enable the app-lock feature, a 6-digit PIN gates the app every time it returns to the foreground. If you additionally enable biometrics, fingerprint or face verification is performed by your device's system biometric interface (such as Touch ID / Face ID). The App does not store or capture your fingerprint, face, or PIN data — the verification is handled entirely by the operating system, and if the biometric prompt cannot complete, the OS falls back to the device passcode.
5. Network Usage
The App's core features — recording transactions, categories, statistics, OCR, backup — work fully offline. Two optional features involve the network, and both are off until you turn them on:
- Daily reminder. If you subscribe the device to the daily spending reminder, the App registers a push-notification topic with the platform notification service.
- Reminder settings sync. Your reminder preferences (for example the reminder time) are stored against a single anonymous record so the setup can follow you to a new device.
Neither call transmits transactions, accounts, categories, notes, or any other financial data — only the anonymous reminder settings record. There is no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, and no tracking in the App.
6. Backups and Exports
Backup and export files you create through the App are controlled entirely by you: where the files go through the system file picker or the system share sheet (cloud storage, email, a computer, AirDrop, Nearby Share) is entirely up to you. We cannot obtain these files and receive no notifications about them. A backup file is plain JSON and contains your full local database — treat it as sensitive and store it accordingly.
7. Data Deletion
Because everything is local, deletion is thorough:
- You can delete individual transactions, accounts, or categories in the App
- You can clear all App data from the App settings
- Uninstalling the App removes all local data from the device
These actions are irreversible — export a backup first if you need the data.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the minimum contract age of applicable law, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the App after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If there are material changes, we will provide reasonable notice in the App or on the store listing.
