Resize
Resolution too high and the file takes up too much space; too low and the image looks blurry on screen — resizing is a basic need for image work. Image Converter provides straightforward resizing tools.
Resize vs Crop
Keep these two concepts separate:
- Crop: Cuts a portion out of the original image. The "content" of the output image changes.
- Resize (scale): Enlarges or shrinks the whole image proportionally. The "content" of the output image stays the same.
Resizing is the right tool when you want to turn a 4000×3000 photo into a 1920×1080 screen image, unify a batch of photos to the same size for a collage, or bring a file down below a target resolution.
Presets and Custom Values
The app offers common resolution presets (such as 1920×1080, 1280×720, and 1080×1080) and also accepts custom width and height values:
- Enter the target width — height is calculated automatically from the original ratio.
- Enter the target height — width is calculated automatically from the original ratio.
- Toggle off the aspect-ratio lock to specify width and height freely (note: doing so may change the aspect ratio).
Why the Aspect Ratio Matters
If the aspect ratio is not locked, the image gets stretched or squashed. Portraits distort, landscapes warp, text bends out of shape. Unless you have a specific reason, keep the original aspect ratio and only change the dimensions.
Resizing Stays on Your Device
