Image Format Conversion
In everyday use, we often need to switch between different image formats: JPG for small file sizes and easy sharing, PNG to keep transparency, WebP for a balance of quality and size, and BMP/TIFF for printing or archiving. Image Converter supports arbitrary conversion between these six mainstream formats. The conversion happens locally on your device — your files are never uploaded to a server.
Supported Formats
- JPG / JPEG: Lossy compression with the smallest file size; the most common choice for photo sharing and the web.
- PNG: Lossless compression with transparency support; ideal for icons, screenshots, and design files.
- WebP: A modern format for the web that balances quality and size; natively supported on iOS 16 and later.
- BMP: An uncompressed bitmap format with large file sizes; common on Windows systems.
- TIFF: A lossless format suitable for printing, publishing, and archiving.
Three Steps to Convert
- Pick an image: Select a photo from your library or the Files app. The app automatically detects the original format.
- Choose the target format: The candidate list automatically excludes the original format, avoiding meaningless round-trip conversions.
- Save: The converted result is delivered through the system share sheet, where you can save it directly to Files, your photo library, or any other location.
EXIF Rotation Automatically Corrected
Photos taken with an iPhone often carry an EXIF rotation tag. The app automatically corrects the orientation before conversion, so the exported image opens correctly on any device. You will never run into the "looks right but exports sideways" problem.
