Video Clip - Trim the Head and Tail with Two Handles

Last updated: 2026-09-15

Video clip

A screen recording - the first 30 seconds are settings adjustments, the last 20 are "and that's it for today." Only the two minutes in the middle matter. The Clip tool does exactly this: trim the head and tail, keep what you want.

Two handles

The timeline has two handles - the left one is the in-point, the right one is the out-point. Drag the in-point to decide which second the keep starts at; drag the out-point to decide which second the keep ends at. The lit middle is what stays; the dimmed sides will be cut.

Live preview

While you drag the handles, the preview picture follows along - you can see exactly what the in-point frame looks like and what the out-point frame looks like, without exporting first.

Auto-saved drafts

Clipping is trial-and-error work - drag, look, drag again if you don't like it. The tool saves a draft after every drag. Step away mid-edit and come back: your settings are exactly where you left them, nothing lost.

Who needs it

Screen recordings that are too long, intros that drag on, outros that ramble - all reasons to clip. Throwaway footage from family recordings, opening remarks in a lecture, blank waits in a demo video - a few seconds trimmed away and the whole thing looks much tighter.
