Adjust Video Aspect Ratio

The same video plays landscape on your phone, has to be portrait for TikTok, and square for Instagram. The Adjust tool gives you 9 presets plus the original ratio, plus 90° rotation steps, to fit every platform.

8 ratios + original

9:16 - portrait, fits TikTok, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Reels
16:9 - landscape, fits YouTube, desktop playback, TV
1:1 - square, classic Instagram
3:4 - portrait-leaning square, Pinterest-friendly
4:3 - old-school TV landscape ratio
6:7 - Instagram post sweet spot
21:9 - cinema ultra-wide
9:21 - vertical version of cinema ultra-wide

Letterbox or full-bleed

When the ratio changes, you have two ways to handle it:

Letterbox - keep the original picture ratio, fill the empty space with a color. The video gets black bars (or whatever color) on the edges; good for shots with subtitles or close-ups of people.
Full-bleed - the picture fills the new ratio, the surplus gets cropped. More visual punch, but edge content may be cut off.

The letterbox color can be picked from a palette - black, white, gray, warm, cool, a dozen-ish presets. Pick something that doesn't steal attention.

90° rotation

You tilted the phone while recording; the export plays sideways. The rotation button turns 90° per tap, four taps cycle back to start. Landscape-to-portrait and back is just this.

Mirror flip

Besides rotation, you can also flip horizontally or vertically. Horizontal flip is for fixing selfie mirror reversal; vertical flip is for flipping inverted footage back upright. Two independent switches - both can be on at once (hflip + vflip = 180° rotation).

Draggable crop offset

In full-bleed mode, edges get cropped to fit the new ratio. Drag the offset slider to move the crop frame up/down/left/right and decide which edge survives. This is the advanced option; the default centered crop is usually enough.

Auto-saved drafts

Adjusting is a back-and-forth process - pick ratio, pick color, check the result, swap if you don't like it. The draft auto-saves while you drag. Step away, come back, your settings are still there.
