Extract Audio is a video toolkit for iPhone. Its core job is pulling the audio track out of any video and exporting it as MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, FLAC or OGG. On top of that, it ships seven video tools - convert, compress, merge, clip, speed, resize, and GIF - all running locally on the device. Your video never leaves your phone.
Core feature: audio extraction
Pick a video from your Photos library or Files, choose an audio format, and a few seconds later a clean audio file is ready. When it's done, a prompt asks where to save - tap Save to Files and pick a folder in iOS Files. MP3, AAC, M4A, WAV, FLAC and OGG don't go into the Photos library directly. You can queue up to 20 clips at once; they're processed one after another. The audio source doesn't matter - your own recordings, a friend's clip, a lecture screen recording, interview footage - if it's in your library, you can extract it.
Supported audio formats
Six formats cover the common cases:
- MP3 - the universal one, supported by virtually every device and player
- AAC / M4A - the Apple ecosystem's favorite, small files with plenty of detail
- WAV - uncompressed, ideal for later mixing or archival
- FLAC - lossless compression, about half the size of WAV
- OGG - open-source format, preferred by some professional gear
Supported video formats
When you need a different container, it can transcode your video to mp4, mov, m4v, mkv, avi, flv, ts, mpg, mpeg, 3gp or 3g2. Video is re-encoded with H.264, audio with AAC (only mpg/mpeg use software MPEG-2 + MP2).
Seven video tools
- Compress - three presets (Low / Medium / High) plus a custom bitrate slider
- Speed - continuous slider from 0.25x to 4x, slow down or speed up
- Merge - stitch multiple clips into one, with reorderable order
- Clip - two handles on the timeline, trim the head and tail
- Resize - 8 ratio presets (9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 3:4, 4:3, 6:7, 21:9, 9:21) plus original; 90-degree rotation steps; horizontal/vertical flip and draggable crop offset
- GIF - pick a segment and a frame rate, output a looping animation
Fully local
Convert, compress, extract audio, merge, clip, speed, resize, GIF - everything runs on your iPhone. No video is ever uploaded to a server. The only network calls are the banner ads shown in the free version on the Home, History, and Settings screens (IAB Medium Rectangle 300x250), and subscription validation.
Free vs. Pro
Every feature is free to use. The free version shows banner ads (IAB Medium Rectangle 300x250) in three places: Home, History, and Settings. Pro removes the banner ads and renews automatically through the App Store.
History and drafts
Every task is logged to history, so you can revisit the parameters or run it again. The Clip, Speed, and Resize tools save drafts automatically while you're dragging - switch screens and come back, and your settings are still there.
