Similar and Burst Photo Cleanup
Bursts and rapid retakes are how good photos happen — you press the shutter several times, keep one shot, and the rest quietly pile up. CleanPhoto gathers these near-identical takes into groups you can review set by set, entirely on your device.
The 10-second rule
When a scan starts, your photos are sorted by capture time. CleanPhoto then walks the timeline and chains photos together: as long as each photo was taken within 10 seconds of the previous one, it joins the same group. The moment the gap exceeds 10 seconds, the chain closes, and the next photo starts a new group. Only groups with more than one photo are kept for review.
This matches how bursts and retakes actually happen: a quick series of shots within a few seconds, then a pause, then something else.
Reviewing a burst
Each group arrives with every photo's file size loaded, so you can compare quality at a glance. Swipe through the set, keep the shots you want, mark the rest for deletion, and confirm — the deletion itself goes through the system photo library. Empty groups disappear automatically after cleanup.
Deliberately simple
Similar-photo detection here is based on capture timing, not content analysis. That choice is intentional: it is instant, it works the same way every time, and it never sends a single pixel off your device. If you took several shots of the same scene within seconds, they will be grouped; two unrelated photos taken minutes apart will never be.
A habit that keeps the library lean
Running a sweep after events, holidays or photo-heavy weekends turns hundreds of near-duplicates into a handful of keepers in a few minutes.
